Between skepticism and new beginnings: Digitalization in naturopathy
The 50th German Naturopathy Day made it clear that digitalization is still met with resistance, especially from the older generation, but that AI and modern tools like EVER will open up new opportunities in the long term.
On September 20, 2025, the 50th German Naturopathic Medicine Day took place at the Hannover Congress Center (Glass Hall) – one of the most important professional events for naturopaths in Germany. The Association of German Naturopaths (VDH) hosted an intensive program of lectures, workshops, and a large industry exhibition. EVER was present as an exhibitor and presented its new software solution for therapists.
Conversations with alternative practitioners – Between tradition and technology
We started the day optimistically – and quickly realized that the conditions were very traditional: even Wi-Fi access was unavailable. The exchange with alternative practitioners was interesting, but also revealed a clear trend: many have been working with tried-and-tested methods for years and are hesitant about digital innovations. This skepticism stems less from concerns about the content itself, but primarily from a desire to remain within familiar routines.
The older generation, in particular, continues to rely on experiential knowledge and analog structures, while voices open to technology are still few and far between. This is precisely where EVER sees its opportunity: to break down barriers and demonstrate, with simple, practical solutions, that digital systems don't have to be complicated, but can noticeably simplify everyday life and open up new perspectives.
The question of the future: AI in naturopathy
An interesting point that emerged from the discussions concerns the future use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of alternative medicine and therapy. The question here is:
- How can AI be designed to work as a silent helper in the background, without users having to overcome a steep learning curve?
- What bridges need to be built so that therapists who are less tech-savvy can also benefit from new opportunities?
The answer might lie in making AI as simple and invisible as possible – a tool that integrates seamlessly into everyday life, so that users don't even realize they're working with cutting-edge technology. Only when the application is truly intuitive will older alternative practitioners be able to gain confidence in it and benefit from it.
Conclusion
The Naturopathy Day showed us how great the opportunities are, but also how clear the resistance is in the area of digitalization within naturopathy. For EVER, it was valuable to receive direct feedback from practitioners and to better understand their needs.
The journey towards modern, AI-supported therapy tools has only just begun. The challenge for the future will be to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation – and to develop solutions that are so simple that everyone can use them.
